Hey everyone. Katy here. I’m a registered dietitian, parent to a fur baby and a human baby, and lover of the simpler things in life. While there are many moments over the years that have led me to start gin and carrot nutrition, ultimately I was motivated by my work with past clients. I’ve seen the way busy lives, restrictive diet culture, and misinformation have affected people’s relationship with food and the barriers to healthy eating that these things create. Balance has been replaced with quick fixes. I’m here to help you break those barriers and BRING. BALANCE. BACK.

My approach to food and nutrition is simple and, of course, balanced. While nutrition can be complicated, eating nutritiously doesn’t have to be. I clear up the confusion and share the facts. I post simple recipes that have become favorites in my household and help us find balance. My approach is never about perfection. In fact as I write this, I’m realizing that I had an Oreo when I got to work this morning and I think that pretty much sums it up. I strive for balance, and that includes indulgent foods. Eating should make us feel good, not guilty.
While I’m not here spreading the good word and good food, you can find me on campus educating young minds. I work for a foodservice management company and I absolutely love the opportunity it gives me to teach nutrition, and be hands on with the dining program so students can apply what they learn.
